Some love autumn, winter, scarves and coats – others can’t wait for spring and sunny temperatures, but for certain skin treatments the cooler months of the year are optimal.
In winter our skin has less melanin than in summer and therefore reacts less to the laser beam. Since hair also contains melanin, the laser can specifically destroy the hair root and protect the surrounding skin. This means the laser is more effective with a lower chance of side effects occurring – such as reddened skin immediately after treatment.
Extensive redness on the face, small veins on the cheeks or on the nose are flaws that can bother us every time we look in the mirror. Laser treatment is also possible in summer, but sun rays can make it difficult for the skin to heal after treatment. In colder seasons, the skin regenerates significantly faster after laser treatment.
Fractional laser treatment has revolutionized the concept of skin rejuvenation. The laser removes the upper skin, heats the deeper dermis and thus very effectively induces collagen formation. In the following weeks the skin regenerates. During this time, the skin becomes red, small crusts form and disappear again. If this treatment were carried out in summer, the redness would last significantly longer, the healing time would be longer and very intensive sun protection would be absolutely necessary. Healing is easier in winter due to the environmental conditions. In addition, a cooler temperature is more pleasant for regeneration.
During a medical peeling, dead skin cells are removed, which stimulates cell renewal. The lower sun exposure and fewer hours of sunshine in winter enable sensitive skin to regenerate safely after the treatment.
As a rule, most procedures can also be carried out in the summer months. However, adequate sun protection is even more important.
